Sports dentistry has always been a passion of Dr. Bryan Hoertdoerfer. He is a member of the International Academy for Sports Dentistry and serves as the official team dentist for the Long Island Lizards and New York Saints.

As the team dentist for the Lizards and Saints, Dr. Hoertdoerfer provides preventative as well as emergency dental care for players. Preventative care for the team includes providing proper headgear, helmets, and mouth guards.

“Mouth guards are of utmost importance for the prevention of sports-related dental injuries,” Dr. Hoertdoerfer said. “In order to reduce such risks, our office makes custom mouth guards for each player. Mouth guards greatly reduce the risk of injury.”

Emergency dental treatment is another service Dr. Hoertdoerfer provides for the teams. He is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week in the event of a dental emergency. Common emergency procedures for players include extractions, root canals, therapy, tooth replacement, composites and fillings.

Dr. Hoertdoerfer also provides final treatment for players who may need additional dental treatment at the conclusion of their professional career. Whether the patient needs permanent prosthesis, dentures, crowns, or implants, each patient is treated on an individual basis to best suit his personal needs, cares and concerns.
