Our office recommends that
a child’s initial visit
to the dentist be when the child is 3 1/2 or 4 years old.
This first visit establishes good oral hygiene and eases
any anxiety the child may have about visiting the dentist.
While we recommend scheduling the first dental visit around
age 3 1/2 to 4, we welcome children of any age who have a
dental emergency
At Wantagh Dental Arts, we take time with children to introduce
them to the dentist and teach them about oral care. We know
that providing a positive dental experience for children
will encourage them to look forward to their next appointment.
As a special treat, our younger patients receive a toy, compliments
of the Wantagh Dental Arts staff, at the conclusion of their
visit. We want to make sure all of our patients leave smiling!
Wantagh Dental Arts is designed with younger patients in
mind. We have a child-friendly staff that enjoy working with
children and look for ways to calm and comfort them during
their visit to our office. In addition, we have a registered
dental hygienist on staff who specializes in pediatric dentistry.
In addition to teaching our younger patients the importance
of proper dental care, we can enhance your child’s
smile, straighten crooked teeth, correct bite problems, guide
erupting teeth into position, and possibly prevent the need
for tooth extractions. As with our adult patients, patience
and comprehensive care are the backbone of our philosophy
and treatment for children.
Establishing proper oral hygiene and habits at an early
age is our goal with our young patients. Most children visit
our office for preventative procedures including oral exams,
prophies, fluoride treatments and x-rays, when necessary.
Since early detection of potential dental problems can save
patients hundreds of dollars in orthodontic treatment, we
encourage evaluations for our patients by our orthodontist
specialist.
From cavity repair to miniature root canals, parents can
rest easy knowing that Wantagh Dental Arts is fully equipped
to handle all dental procedures common with children. In
addition, our office offers state of the art dental technology
including tooth-colored cavity repair that leaves the patient
with a filling that is not visible.
